| Writer/director/producer Lisa D. Merrill got back into the world of writing in 2001. She had written a lot as a child, but got away from it when she was sidetracked by the music business, becoming a singer/entertainer local and abroad. She began writing short stories in 2001 and published a children’s story in 2003. She wrote human-interest articles for two San Diego newspapers 2002-2005. She immersed herself in the world of screenwriting, after attending the 2002 San Diego Film Festival; reading a multitude of books on the subject, attending UCLA Extension classes along with various seminars and trade shows. She’s now completed fourteen feature scripts in different genres with more comedies in the works and five short scripts. Her scripts have placed high in international and national screenwriting contests, and made it into the top ten on www.triggerstreet.com (Kevin Spacey's site.) Her scripts have caught the attention of more than a few L.A. producers, as well as the Lifetime Network. Three of her short scripts are now films; THE LAST CATCH was shot in November of 2005 (wrote, directed, produced) and was an official selection of the Hawaii International Film Festival October 2006 and Miami’s Petstyle Film Festival November 2006.
