His Brother's Keeper

His Brother’s Keeper, the fourth short film of Lisa D. Merrill, is a bit of a modern day take on the old Cain and Abel Bible story. In Lisa's own words; “I tend to believe in past lives, and that we all come back here again to live life over and learn lessons until we finally get it right. Once that’s accomplished, we can then move on to a higher realm, and we don’t need to come back here again. In the old biblical sense of Cain being made to wander the Earth for all eternity, I see Cain’s curse and mark (portrayed in the film as a prominent birthmark in the shape of a waw, the sixth letter of many Semitic alphabets) as something that will follow him forever and through many, many lifetimes, until he finally is humble enough to learn his lesson not to kill. In my story, however, Cain/Lance obviously hasn’t learned a thing, and is getting stronger in his quest to continue killing. Abel/ Kenny, seems to have learned not to turn his back on his “once brother,” hence he be struck down once again.”  Shot using the new technology of the Redrock M2 lens, which gives digital video a 35mm look, His Brother’s Keeper will be sent out to film festivals worldwide.

Synopsis
Lance has an extraordinary talent. A "deadly" extraordinary talent. Kenny knows what that talent is, but at eleven years of age, who will ever believe him? Now he's the only one who can stop Lance before another innocent life is lost.  His Brother's Keeper is a short film along the lines of an old Twilight Zone episode with a modern day take on the Cain and Abel bible story. Sit back, relax if you can...and enjoy the fantasy!
